Common questions
Is TilePlayCoach free?
Yes. Every feature of TilePlayCoach — the solver, screenshot import, the post-game coach, practice mode and all the word lists — is free, with no account and no limit on how many boards you solve.
Do my screenshots get uploaded anywhere?
No. Screenshots are decoded and read entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. The image never leaves your device, and there is no server that could receive it.
How does the solver find the best move?
It builds a compact word graph (a DAWG) from the dictionary, finds every anchor square next to the tiles already played, works out which letters can legally sit on each empty square, and walks the graph to generate every legal move. Each move is then scored with the full premium-square rules and ranked.
What is the Coach for?
Set the board to the position before your turn, enter the rack you were holding and the move you actually played. The coach scores your move, finds the best move that was available, and tells you exactly how many points you left behind.
Which dictionary do you use?
An open reference word list, so the results are free to use and inspect. It is very close to what you will see in play but it is not the official Crossplay lexicon, so a rare word can occasionally differ. The dictionary source is always labelled in the app.
